Okay cousins, I ask for your help.
My teacher played two songs that I fell in love with but I can't find who the singer is. One of the songs she played was 存在 which I found "5566" sang it but I'm guessing they weren't the original singers of the song, since the version we heard was a solo, which I liked better. Please help your poor cousin fulfill her chinese song collection!!!! Ｏh, and if you have any recommendations of then hook me up!!

A new outlook

My mommy went with me as I had my hair chopped off to be donated to Locks of Love. I miss having my long hair mainly because me with short hair is a completely different look. I don't look bad, just fabulous in a different way. No worries, when donating hair you don't have to have it so short, I just wanted a boy haircut. I was worried about how work would react but they all love it, even my customers love it.

My father double booked himself so I took over one of his duties yesterday as he finished the other. I was part of a biology booth that had a line of microscopes with different things to look at. I had a huge line of people waiting to look thru the microscopes, it was awesome! The booth was the star of the show. Thru the chaos, the most bizarre thing happened, someone stole the paramecium. Yes, someone stole single celled organisms. What would someone want with paramecium, esp since one needs a microscope to see them? No idea. I just don't understand.

Spice Up Your Life

I'm not going to go out because Halloween is the day I work(whee to making drinks!) but I did have a costume. This past wkend I was a Spice Girl, Sporty Spice to be precise. I spent some money for that outfit, but I didn't mind so much since they're comfortable and I'm gonna use it again. For me, whenever I work out or run, I get really itchy because apparently that's what cotton does. And sport clothes help decrease that, which obviously I would like. So happy medium for me!I had to put a lot of gel in my hair to get rid of my bangs. For the pic above, the order of who is in the pic(excluding the Darth Vader aka Danny): Fran, Dalina, myself, Alisha, and Paige. If you are bored and want to kinda play a game, you can try to guess who's who. I agree it will be somewhat difficult because most of the girls did not dress up to the best potential(I was the most recognizable to ppl). New Camera!

I got a new camera a couple days ago! It's very awesome, I like it! It's not very attractive which is why I think the price was lower than the other cameras. But I checked out all the info, in comparison to the other cameras Best Buy was selling, and this camera was better overall. It may not look attractive or sleek but, unlike the other cameras available for at least $50 more, this camera has the MANUAL mode(which is more like taking pics with a nice camera that isn't digital). So I got it with no regrets. I've been learning some of its features, my favorite being it's ability to take pics really close. Either way, I've been playing with it a bit! Kai, of course, enjoyed being a model.

To create the picture of my eye with my name on it was a bit more work than Kai modeling in behind flowers. Originally I had my glasses on and wrote my name normally on the computer. However, I realized there were two reflections(from my eyes and the glasses) as well as the characters being backwards(since it's a mirror image). I don't have a program on my computer to flip the picture. Therefore, I had to write the characters backwards on the computer(aka using a mouse which is not the same as writing it by hand) and hope for the best. Luckily, it turns out that my chinese handwriting backwards on the computer isn't TOO bad.

In other news, Kai still loves his bunny, Kiki. And, I will admit, Kiki is a really cute bunny, even though she's very naughty. I just needed to add this picture because I'm sure Kai might actually want it as well as to prove that even though Kai has shown pics of Kiki looking evil, she is not infact evil. Just has redeye sometimes.

Pooh be GONE!

I made myself a new hat with a Winnie the Pooh kiddie costume body suit(I found it for $3). I like it. I'm gonna wear it to school tomorrow with pride, even when ppl look at me funny(which will happen).

My friend Daniel, who happens to be a comic book artist, drew a pic of Optimus Prime on a computer program. I saw the pic and created war. I was defeated but then my friend, Steven, cut in and saved Leah's Optimus. This is the result:

Kitty Rescue

Today, Kai let the kitty out onto the balcony. 20 minutes later, when he went back outside, "Leah..." The kitty had jumped to the balcony next door. That's over 5 ft away! I was impressed but now we had to figure out how to get the kitty back. Yes, it jumped to the balcony next door but it's doubtful that it'd do it again. After some critical thinking, I suggested we use my mattress, placing it as a lil' walkway for the kitty. We tried one of my lighter mattresses first. It was easy to get over to the other side. The problem was that this mattress was way too flimsy, if the kitty got onto it, the kitty(even tho light) would of probably been too heavy for the mattress and fallen down the stairs. So then we decided to use my actual mattress. Since the mattress was heavy and a little flimsy, Kai had a hard time forcing the mattress to raise high enough to reach the other balcony. While doing this, we started laughing in response to people walking to their car, looking at us, us laughing at what it must look like we're doing. After many attempts, Kai finally got the mattress to the other balcony. The mattress still wasn't long enough so Kai was forced to hold the mattress on our end as it hung from the other balcony. At first, the kitty just looked at us like a punk, sitting there. I took some documentation just cuz it was a funny moment but also because I knew the kitty would be influenced to watch me and come back to me. Sure enough, the kitty took the bait and walked along the mattress and crawled toward me. As soon as she got close enough, I grabbed her by the top of her neck and dragged her inside, Kai following with the mattress. We felt like firemen.

Hello!

So hmm... this summer has gone by way too slowly... it's only been 3 MONTHS and it's still summer! It feels like it's been about 6-8 months. I only feel like it's dragged due to taking summer school. It will be over in 2 wks though, yipee!

But on the bright side, I had a slight vacation! Yes, you know it, a packed wkend of fun! First off, I went to SeaWorld! I hadn't been there since I was about 10 so it was fun! I got to ride on all the roller coasters(2), get some sun(I usually swim everyday but it's been raining like crazy here), cry during the Shamu show, see other shows such as the adorable beluga whale show, eat cotton candy(yummy!!!!), and not be at school or work!

I also found out that weekend that I'm really horrible at bowling. I remember bowling 2 times in my life. Once was in Malaysia at one of the malls, the other was at Paige's thing. I scored pretty badly, but hey! I learned that bowling isn't my thing, good times! I still dislike it. I'm more of a person who uses their legs, not arms.

How would Gandhi deal with zombies?

How would Gandhi deal with zombies?

I've been wondering this for a while. He is both warrior and pacifist(going by the strict definitions of both).

If a warrior were dealing with zombies, he'd slaughter them. The act of zombies killing humans would obviously be an evil act, especially since the zombies killing is not a justified cause. Therefore killing the zombies would be justified. But the dilemma here is the fact that zombies are killing for food like a wolf would kill a rabbit. So is this situation really justified?

On the otherhand, pacifists would avoid the situation altogether. They avoid the notion of killing any other human no matter the case. But the problem here is the definition of what is human. Would zombies be considered human? Would destroying them really be killing them since they are supposed to be dead technically.

So Gandhi, carrying both motifs in his beliefs, what would he do in this sort of situation. Looking at his past protests, one thing he could do would be to fast until the zombies stopped their misdoings. Gandhi only used this technique of fasting because he knew it would be an affective way to stop the violence, and since it would not be affective with zombies, fasting wouldn't be the way to go about this situation. But Gandhi is also known to be stubborn, so maybe he would fast until the zombies stopped.

I haven't done enough research to think of any other ways he'd protest. Any suggestions?

I haven't been bloggin' for a while, just haven't been online much in general! But since I'm here, might as well..

Thank you Jordan for wishing me a happy birthday! Sorry I didn't answer when you called, I was studying for a test and didn't realized you called. It's appreciated though!
I didn't do much on my birthday, I just went out, no parties or anything. It's not that important of a day to me... just seems everyone over here makes a HUGE deal about it...
The pic to the right is a picture with my friend that I've known for over 10 yrs. 10 YEARS! It's crazy thinking about it.

I'm currently doin' my Chinese hw in the UT computer lab... I am trying to get a lot of hw done early(like 1/2 wk early) so that I can have more time for the next two wks to focus on hardcore studying.
My next two weeks are going to be CRAZY!

WK 1-3 exams and 1 quiz
WK 2-3 finals and 1 research paper

I can't wait til it's all over though! I am going to enjoy the sun. I was planning on going to China for the summer to teach English but I don't know if my application even made it to China... so for now I'm just planning on summer school, which I've never done before so it should be interesting!

So what is new since last time I updated... I currently live at home with NO JOB. I quit a couple weeks ago because working for a family friend is a pain and I needed more time to study. It feels odd. Being completely dependent on my parents for money... Changing spending habits wasn't TOO hard to deal with... but not having a continuous cash flow is a really bizarre concept for me. I've earned money(never got an allowance) since middle school... I'm definately going to get a job once this semester is over...

Finally, a white Christmas

It snowed over here today (it's a very hot and somewhat humid place here) Cars were so iced over that even if you got the ice off the key hole, you couldn't turn the key. This day reminded me how nice it is to have friends live close to you.
James and I walked toward each other's places til we each found each other. I bundled myself up in 2 pairs of socks, long johns, pants, 3 layers of shirts, 2 pairs of gloves per hand, a scarf, and a jacket. We walked back to my place where we ate cornbread stuffing with hot tea and watched The City of Lost Children thru this online service. It's a very... interesting movie. Kinda doesn't make much sense at times... Anyway, today was a good day!

Roommate Blues

I went to Houston this past wkend. Once I came back, everything went bad.
I got a message yesterday from my ex telling me to watch out.
-Someone wanted to blackmail me with something from my computer(webcam pics) and that my roommate was going to steal the info that was gonna be the source of blackmail.
-My roommate was gonna break the lease since I was a slut and I lose the checks he'd give me(aka irresponsible).

So I decide I needed to talk to my roommate about it. He and I have different schedules, he wakes up early and sleeps early, I wake up late and sleep late. So I left a message on the door, "Tell me when you're available to talk." I woke up and he replied, "Yea, we need to don't we."
...This has a hint of sarcastic bitchiness but I ignored it. But obviously we weren't gonna talk that night...

So I went to work. During my shift I recieve a text message, "I am home now if you
want to come talk but after 9 I would rather not. So it is all up to you." I reply, "I'm at work til 9:30." His reply, "Sounds like a personal problem. Guess it is not happening tonight then." Obviously a reply like that means he's mad. So I reply, "Do you have a problem with me? What did I do?" No response. The whole time at work I was feeling queezy. I hate the feeling that someone is mad at me or hates me. Esp since I don't know why.

I get home from work and he's there with his brother. Okay, we won't talk tonight, that's fine. I don't want to talk when ppl are around. After my shower, the brother is gone. I ask my roommate, "Are you mad at me?" *roomie walks away* "Andrew, did I make you mad?"
"Yes"
"Why?"
"You think it's more important for me to pay you the rent vs paying my loan sharks."
"...you never told me about this, how can you be mad at me for me not knowing?"
"Yeah, I know."
Last wk, I had told him that I wanted him to start paying the bills by the 1st of the month from now on. He has NEVER paid me rent on time and it's a bit unfair to me to pay 2 ppls rent ON TIME when he can delay 2 wks. I esp think it's unfair since I make less money than him. The only reason why it became an issue to me was because I had paid all the rent for Nov. He said he's take care of Dec. He didn't. He couldn't. He asked me to take care of it. BTW, he had just bought a Nintendo Wii($250) along with games($50/each). (I believe he also bought an XBOX360 for his brother but I could be wrong so I'll let that slide) So I thought it was a bit lame to not be able to pay for rent which costs the same as the system with games. So that's why I talked to him about paying rent on time. But when he told me about the loan sharks, I shoulda asked him why he bought a game system... I SHOULDA! But oh well... I was more confused at the time than witty. But seriously, if I knew, I woulda understood. I would of given him all the time he needed.

...he's also mad at me because I "lose" checks he gives me. He mentioned he had to rewrite 2 of them. Which I explained to him, the first one he wrote wrong, and second one I did lose but I found it the same day and gave it to him to tear up. He is also mad cuz I don't turn the checks in right away. I have and have had a really busy schedule. I have to give them to my mother to take care of them. "Why not put it in your purse then?" ...I don't USE purses.... which I explained.

I also heard he'd been calling me a slut, "Do you think I'm a slut?" "Yes, but I don't talk about it. It's because you have guys come over." I have guy friends... they come over to visit. I have friends that are GUYS... so this makes me a slut? Even if they were to sleep over, I have 2 beds, they do NOT sleep in the same bed as me. I've only dated one guy and he hasn't even been over. Though in all seriousness, the only guy friends I can think of that have come over, other than Kai, have been 4 others.

He's also mad because I always have to be right all the time. As if I'm opinionated. "What? When was this." His example was for his cat. I claimed it had sprayed the closet cuz I cleaned up after it. I told him he needs to get his cats balls removed because it has been meowing the horny call. He claimed the smell or spill I cleaned up was spoiled cat food. Either way, I asked him to take care of this because he had just bought a Nintendo Wii and if you can buy that, you can pay for the cats balls being cut off. Either way, if you say something and I disagree and have evidence to back it up, it's not that I'm opinionated, I'm just defending myself when I feel I'm being wrongly accused. Everyone does that. Even he does.

I told him I'd let him sleep... throughout the whole thing he kept talking about how he was tired because he didn't get home til a certain time. But I told him that he seriously needs to talk to me when there's a problem. If he has a problem with me, tell me and I'll try to solve or fix it. I'm the type of person that like to solve the conflict when it occurs.

I hope this resolves better in the morning. I cried to a friend for the very first time today... I just couldn't understand why he was mad at me for any of this. He's mainly mad about the paying rent on time thing. I'm trying to figure where am I to blame for this. I really don't understand.

He alerted me that he's gonna break the lease and move out in Feb.

OMG... I should be really mad right now. Last month, my roommate didn't pay rent so we agreed he'd pay for next month. He just bought 2 game systems(a Wii and an Xbox 360, both at least $200) along with games($50/each). He came up to me today, "Leah, I can't pay rent, so you'll have to cover it and I'll pay you later." That means I've paid rent for the past 2 months, and he owes me $625! UGH!!!!!!! I'm thinkin' I should be mean about it and refuse. He can find his own way to deal with rent because I, who works less and therefore earns less money can do my part, he can too. UGH!
On a happy note...



These are my cousins on the American side, the first pic was taken I believe 10 yrs ago? We definately all look really different! I like lookin' at it this way though, it just reminds me of the greatness of family, how you can never compete with the relationship of family. I really should suggest having these two pics up at my house right next to each other. Actually, I think I'll buy a couple of frames tomorrow and hang em at my house for my parents to find. My uncles and aunts all joked to do this again in 10 more yrs... but dunno who'd wanna sit on bottom when we're in our 30's.

My friend, Jael, and I took pics diff places on campus. We didn't have someone to help us take the pictures, we just had to use the timer on my computer(and run fast). We didn't mean for this to happen, it just kinda did! Most of campus isn't as pretty, it was just the area we were in. Sadly I had to go to work, otherwise there'd be more locations!

...in order to write this post, I was forced to join Beta Blogger... arg... I'm worried. So many horror stories from two other cousins but oh well! Hope it works out!

The year will be over soon, how refreshing. Kai and I went to a concert today and one of the topics was how much this year sucked. Well, I admit lots about it sucked, esp the first half.
2006 started really crappy(an extremely rocky relationship that almost ended with a restraining order) but I liked the second half though. It had new perks. I finally didn't work Friday AND Saturday(both days of the wkend) therefore I got to see my friends, whee! Because of that simple decision of NOT working on Saturdays, man, it's done a lot to make this semester quite grand!
I want to end this year by visiting a friend who's in Tokyo but I doubt that'll happen, it'll cost $1,200 and that's if I leave Christmas day. It's the only thing I want for Christmas, the only thing I've ever wanted for a Christmas... lol, I'm not gonna try hard wishing though, it's probably better I stay in Austin and make money versus go to Japan to spend money. Ohhh.. how I woulda loved to go though....

I'm a bit early but HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! Make good resolutions and KEEP THEM!

I think I'm going to cut a deal with my roomie. He has a new job now which he works constantly so when he gets home, he's a bit too tired to do the chores around the house. Understandable(cept he never did them before anyway, *snickers*). Because of this, I clean the house(well, I've been doing this since we moved in technically):dishes, trash, bathroom, etc. I wanna make a deal to where I don't have to have a kitty litter box in my room. Just take it out of there so there will only be one kitty litter box, his. This apartment is small enough for one anyway. That could be his own responsibility, his only contribution to the chores around the house. Yes, this is for my own benefit as well-I hate doing kitty litter but I hate trash most so it's a fair deal. Actually, I really hate having kitty litter in my room(the kitties hang out in my room more often) because I need to clean mine more often than his, wayyyy more often.

BTW, my webcam ROX! It can make anyone look beautiful
